How to Book Your CSCS Test

The process takes about ten minutes:

1. Decide which test you need — Operatives, Specialists, or Managers and Professionals (MAP). This depends on the card you're applying for, so check the card requirements first.
2. Go to the CITB website (citb.co.uk) and choose 'Book a test', or call the CITB booking line.
3. Pick a test centre and time slot, and pay the £23.50 fee by card.
4. Save your confirmation email — it has your booking reference and the ID requirements for test day.

You must bring valid photo ID that matches the name on your booking — a passport, UK driving licence, or other accepted ID listed in your confirmation email. Arrive at least 15 minutes early. If your ID doesn't match or you arrive late, you can be turned away and lose your fee.

You can reschedule or cancel your booking free of charge as long as you give CITB enough notice — typically at least 72 hours before your appointment. Inside that window, you forfeit the fee.

Budget for two separate fees: £23.50 for the HS&E test (paid to CITB) and £36 for the CSCS card application itself (paid to CSCS after you pass).
