Privacy Policy

Introduction

Maven Studios (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Stencly: AR Drawing & Tracer mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

No Account, No Sign-Up

Stencly does not require you to create an account. There is no username, email address, or password. You can use the App immediately after installing it.

Information We Collect

Anonymous User ID

We generate a random identifier (via RevenueCat) so that your subscription status can be restored across reinstalls on the same Apple ID. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information.

Camera Access

Camera Mode and AR Mode need camera access to show your paper on screen and overlay the template. Camera frames are processed on-device only — they are never sent to our servers or stored anywhere off your device.

Photo Library Access

When you save a finished trace, we ask for permission to write to your photo library. Stencly only writes the saved trace — we do not read your existing photos.

AI Prompts (PRO only)

When you type an idea for an AI-generated custom stencil, the text prompt is sent to our AI provider (fal.ai) to generate the image. We do not associate prompts with your identity beyond the anonymous user ID needed to enforce rate limits.

Analytics & Crash Data

We use Mixpanel and Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data (which templates get picked, which modes get used, app opens) so we can improve the App. We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports. No personal identifiers are attached to these events.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Your name, email address, or phone number
  • Your location
  • Your contacts
  • Camera footage or photos beyond what's needed for the specific feature you use
  • We do not sell your data to third parties
  • We do not use your data for advertising

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • RevenueCat — Subscription management and purchase restoration (anonymous ID only)
  • fal.ai — AI-generated custom stencils (PRO feature; prompt only)
  • Cloudflare — API gateway and rate limiting (Worker infrastructure)
  • Firebase (Google) — Anonymous analytics and crash reports
  • Mixpanel — Anonymous product analytics
  • Apple App Store — Payment processing for PRO subscriptions

These services have their own privacy policies that govern their use of any data they receive.

Data Security

All data transmitted between the App and our servers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). We do not store camera frames, photos, or AI-generated results on our servers. Rate-limit counters and subscription status are the only data that touch our infrastructure.

Data Retention

Analytics and crash-report data are retained for up to 24 months by Mixpanel and Firebase according to their standard policies. Subscription records are retained for as long as required for Apple's purchase-verification and tax obligations. Rate-limit counters expire within 24 hours.

Your Rights

Because Stencly does not collect personal information, there is no profile to access, correct, or delete. You can:

  • Revoke camera or photo library access anytime in your iOS Settings
  • Uninstall the App to stop all data collection (analytics stop immediately; subscription remains active until you cancel via Apple)
  • Contact us to request removal of any anonymous analytics data linked to your device identifier

Children's Privacy

Stencly is safe for creative use by children with parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date.
